Why Therapy?
As seniors, we face challenges unique to our time in life. Many of us routinely deal with the bereavement associated with the loss of friends, family, or life partners. We find that we attend more funerals than weddings.
We sometimes look back on our lives and wonder if we really made any difference in the world; we ask ourselves if we have lived meaningful lives.
We find that we are caregivers for some of the most important people in our lives and find ourselves overwhelmed with emotions of sadness and concern, not to mention the physical strain.
Some of us are transitioning to the long-anticipated retirement, but rather than experiencing excitement and joy we find that we are apprehensive, anxious or depressed.
Some of us are living with chronic illness or pain. Some may be realizing that death is only a few years away. Or, perhaps, we or dealing with decreasing cognitive abilities and we worry about dementia for ourselves or someone we love dearly.
These and other challenges can lead to feelings of hopelessness, despair, being overwhelmed, loneliness, anxiety, or depression. If you are facing some of these challenges, therapy might be beneficial.

Why Teletherapy?
Convenience. With teletherapy, you can schedule an appointment when it is convenient for you. There is no need to travel to an office, find a parking place, check into a waiting room or any of the other inconveniences that are associated with going to an office. You don’t have to get dressed up or even leave home.
Flexibility. You can schedule an appointment at a time that works for you. Since teletherapy is available anywhere there is an internet connection, you can go on vacation or visit friends in another city and still make your appointment.
Accessibility. Teletherapy eliminates the need for accommodation for those dealing with mobility issues. For example, there is no need for special parking accommodations, elevators, or wheelchair ramps. Hearing and vision needs can be easily accommodated when using teletherapy.
Comfort. Sometimes, just staying comfortably dressed or in a comfortable place makes therapy more enjoyable. With teletherapy, you sit in your favorite chair, keep the temperature set the way you want it or leave the lights as bright or as low as you find comfortable.
Why ELDERSTHERAPY.COM ?
First, I only see older adults. Whether you use the term senior, elder or geriatric, the age group I target is adults at retirement age and older. I also work with their caregivers.
Second, I am a trained Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and I also have specific training to address many of the issues facing aging adults. In addition, I am an older adult myself and I have experienced several of the issues facing aging adults.
Finally, I am readily available. I only see a small number of clients each week and do not hold standard office hours, so in addition to traditional office hours, I am available on weekends, early morning or in the evening.
